COOKING DEMONSTRATION
KING CITY — Mee Memorial Healthcare System invites residents to take small steps to lead to big changes as part of National Wellness Month. The King City hospital will host a cooking demo by Chef Brandon Miller on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 12:30 p.m. The demo will take place on the Rose Garden Patio, where guests will learn how to cook a healthy and delicious recipe made with summer squash.
LATIN NIGHT
JOLON — Fort Hunter Liggett’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation office invites the community to participate in its Latin night dance party on Aug. 21, starting at 4 p.m. There will be a traditional Puerto Rican dish for participants to enjoy, a bar, Latin music and games available. NARCAN AVAILABILITY
SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department shared a video through social media of a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department deputy almost dying after brief exposure to fentanyl, as a reminder of how dangerous the drug can be. The deputy was kept alive by doses of Narcan, which is available from SPD, where residents can pick up a dose, no questions asked, for emergency use should they ever come across someone overdosing.
