POSSIBLE SPAM TEXT

SOLEDAD — Over the weekend, a number of Soledad residents received a text message that may be possible spam. The text came from a “Dynata” using the phone number 360-578-7022. The text asks the recipient to complete a quick survey on “issues important to residents of Soledad.” The City of Soledad is not currently conducting a survey through Dynata. Residents are asked to be cautious when receiving this text message and to not open links from any unknown source, as they can be a possible scam.

KING CITY — California Highway Patrol in King City will be hosting a two-hour “Start Smart” Driver Safety Education Course for teens and their parents on Wednesdays, Aug. 14 and 21, at 6 p.m. Spaces are limited. Call the King City CHP Office at 831-387-3800 to reserve a spot at one of these classes.


CHAMBER MIXER

SOLEDAD — The community is invited to meet the new Soledad Chamber of Commerce at its first Mixer on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 6:30 p.m. There will be membership and board applications available. The event will take place at the Taste of Pinnacles, 148 Main St., in Soledad.


BONUS BRIEF: HOUSING ELEMENT REVIEW

MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey has released an updated draft Sixth Cycle Housing Element for a seven-day public review period beginning Monday, Aug. 12, and ending Monday, Aug. 19. The document can be found at tinyurl.com/3aup6fjw. Following this review period, the County will submit the draft Housing Element to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (CA HCD) for its first review period on Aug. 19. CA HCD is allowed 90 days for the first review period to provide findings on the County’s draft Sixth Cycle Housing Element. The document will also go before the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 20. The Housing Element identifies and analyzes the County’s existing and projected housing needs in unincorporated Monterey County and contains a detailed outline and work program to improve and develop housing options.
