COLLECTION DRIVE
KING CITY — Community Food Pantry of King City is hosting a Goodwill collection drive this weekend. Residents are asked to bring new or gently used items, such as clothing, shoes, books, blankets, sheets, linens, curtains, dishes, kitchenware, bikes, music CDs, DVDs, small kitchen appliances and all other general household items to the Goodwill donation trailer. Furniture, mattresses, beds, large appliances, exercise equipment, baby strollers and car seats cannot be accepted at the trailer, which will be parked at King City High School’s Broadway Street parking lot on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For every trailer filled, Goodwill will donate $1,000 to the food pantry. For more information, call Peggy Keirn at 831-320-8678.
COMPOST BINS
GONZALES — Through a collaboration with Salinas Valley Recycles, the City of Gonzales now has compost bins available for the community. The implementation of this program helps turn local food scraps into compost that can enrich soil on farms and in home gardens while keeping waste out of the landfill. Anyone interested in receiving a compost bin can stop by City Hall, 147 Fourth St., to pick one up.
