SOUTH COUNTY — Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation has selected Ivan Trujillo of Greenfield for the 2019 Heritage Foundation Scholarship.

While families ate scoops of polenta and stew inside the fair’s Orradre Building last Thursday evening, Trujillo and runner-up Jack Busch took the stage for the first time as they were announced to the community.

“It’s going to be a great honor to represent this amazing foundation,” Trujillo said.

Trujillo, from Greenfield FFA, will be raising the first-ever goat for the Heritage Foundation that will be sold at the Salinas Valley Fair.

Busch, representing San Benancio 4-H, said, “I am very thankful that the Heritage Foundation is giving me this opportunity to be the runner-up.”

Shortly after Trujillo and Busch were revealed as the Scholarship winner and runner-up, respectively, Santa Claus took over the stage to take photos with children and families.

The annual Polenta and Stew Feed on Nov. 29 also served as a toy drive collection destination and is a fundraiser for the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation.
