SALINAS — Salinas Downtown Streets Team (DST) is recruiting new members for its Community Advisory Council.

The DST Community Advisory Council is a group of active and involved Salinas community members who bring their professional skills and talents to engage in social justice and create a meaningful impact to the Downtown Streets Team in Salinas.

Members of the Council will focus on education, advocacy and policy to build partnerships within the community and expand and improve upon the DST program. They will also provide strategic support to adapt the DST model locally and to create unique opportunities and partnerships to combat homelessness in Salinas.

The Council will serve one-year terms applying their time, talents and resources to advance DST’s mission of ending homelessness by restoring the dignity and rebuilding the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness.

Founding members of the Community Advisory Council are Gabriel Carvey, Margaret D’arrigo, Gloria de La Rosa, Steve Ish and Mike Bitar.

Downtown Streets Team came to Salinas about two years ago via a pilot program with the City of Salinas. DST is dedicated to building teams that restore dignity, inspire hope and provide a pathway to recovery from homelessness.

Anyone who is interested in helping the DST Community Advisory Council, has an idea or would like to become a member, contact DST’s Associate Director of Monterey County Maria Cambron at [email protected].
