GREENFIELD — Local law enforcement has seized illegal guns, drugs and fireworks in Greenfield following a search related to a child pornography investigation.

According to the Greenfield Police Department, members of the South Monterey County Task Force served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Fifth Street on June 23. The search was part of an ongoing child pornography investigation, police said.

During the search, officers located an unregistered “ghost” rifle, a loaded Springfield XD .45 handgun with a scratched off serial number, more than 250 rounds of pistol and rifle ammunition, 125 individually packaged marijuana totaling over 6 pounds, over 12 pounds of marijuana in large plastic bags, marijuana vape cartridges and more than 100 pounds of illegal fireworks.

Gustavo Morales Castro, 35, of Greenfield, was identified as the owner of the firearms, marijuana and fireworks. Castro evaded police for several weeks but was later arrested.

On July 14, Castro appeared in court on charges related to the illegal possession of firearms, marijuana drug sales and possession of dangerous fireworks.
