More than 300 community members attended the City of Soledad’s first-ever General Plan Kickoff and Dia de los Muertos Celebration last Thursday at the Soledad Community Center.

The Nov. 2 gathering was designed to engage the community in shaping the future through the General Plan process, while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

In addition to providing feedback on the plan, attendees were treated to live performances, music, art exhibits and contests.

“A big thank you to all the talented performers who made the celebration unforgettable,” the City posted on social media. “… The City of Soledad is overjoyed by the vibrant community presence on this significant day.”

Just a couple days earlier, hundreds of children and their families also participated in the fourth annual Front Street’s Spook Fest at Cesar Chavez Park. The Halloween event featured a trunk-or-treat, games, contests and music.
