MONTEREY COUNTY — The independent nonprofit Partnership for Children (PFC), which increases access to medical care for children with serious illnesses and supports their families, has launched its 2023 Holiday Drive that includes volunteer opportunities, Adopt-a-Family program, Miles of Smiles gift card program and donations to the general holiday fund.

Here are a variety of ways the community can make a huge impact on the lives of children and their families:

HOST A HOLIDAY DRIVE

Get creative and host a holiday drive, a great way for groups to get involved in bringing holiday joy to kids. Host a holiday toy drive, or a drive for one of the other wonderful gifts PFC gives out to kids each year: pajamas, warm hats, socks, books, stockings, teen gift cards or diapers.

ADOPT A FAMILY

PFC is looking for donors to adopt a family this holiday season. Each year PFC gathers wish lists from children living with serious illness and their siblings. Donors adopt a family, shop for gifts and deliver them to Partnership for Children. The sizes of the families vary, so PFC can match donors with the perfect family for their budget.

DONATE TEEN GIFT CARDS

As kids get older and become teenagers, shopping for them can get a little difficult. Each teen PFC serves has very unique interests and would love to receive a gift card for the holidays to go shopping and pick something meaningful out for themselves. Donate a $25 gift card to popular stores like Target or Walmart and online retailer Amazon and help give a teen exactly what they want for the holidays.

HOLIDAY DONATION

Those who want to help but don’t have a lot of time can donate to the general fund, and PFC will allocate their donation to help families in need this holiday season.

VOLUNTEER

Sign up to volunteer. Volunteering is rewarding and not only helps others, but can provide a sense of purpose and community, increase social skills and can improve self-esteem.
