GONZALES — A strong Carmel Padres tennis team blanked the host Gonzales 7-0 on Thursday at the Spartan tennis courts. The Padres won the four singles matches and the three doubles matches against the young Spartan team.
“Overall the team played well against a tough opponent,” said Gonzales head tennis coach Rene Mendez. “Of particular note were the first and third double teams.”
Gonzales continued league play with a match at Pebble Beach yesterday against the Stevenson Pirates and will have a bye tomorrow. The Spartans resume play on Oct. 10 when they host Oakwood.
