GREENFIELD — One person was killed and three others injured in a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon on Highway 101 north of Greenfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) King City Area, a 2018 Sunsetter motorhome was traveling northbound around 3:50 p.m. on June 16 at Hudson Road when it crossed over the center divider into southbound lanes and struck a 2008 Toyota Highlander SUV head-on.

The motorhome then overturned on its side after sustaining major damage, and the SUV ended up in a ditch with water in it.

CHP confirmed that the driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old man from Beaverton, Ore., suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. His 53-year-old female passenger, also of Beaverton, was taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas with moderate injuries.

The driver of the motorhome, a 71-year-old man from Sunnyvale, Calif., suffered major injuries, while his passenger, a 69-year-old female, complained of neck and head pain. Both were taken to Natividad, as well.

The highway was closed for several hours and fully reopened later that night.

CHP said the accident is still under investigation.
