SOLEDAD — A grand opening was held over the Fourth of July weekend for a new shooting range facility in Soledad, the first of its kind in South Monterey County.
Astoria Range, located at 31500 San Vicente Road, offers a variety of firearms-related courses. From recreational to tactical, the staff will provide qualified training in multi-situation/logistics stations and hands-on educational instructions at each range, all while adhering to the utmost safety measures.
The Range is a collaboration between two local veterans, Astoria Logistics Group founder JR Nuño and his business partner Dylan Fletcher.
“With so many firearms enthusiasts in this county, this gives them a professional and safe environment to spend their days,” Fletcher said.
Both Nuño and Fletcher combined their extensive weaponry and tactical experience to start the Soledad project in 2019. With the idea in mind, they began the planning in phases to develop an old firing range in town.
Currently, the Range has a variety of options available, including handgun, shotgun and long-rifle ranges as well as an entry operations facility. Training is offered for civilians, corporate and industrial organizations, law enforcement and government personnel.
During the July 2 opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony in partnership with Soledad Merchants was held to celebrate the new facility. Range staff also provided tours and helped with registration that day.
“We encourage the public to visit our state-of-the-art facility and see that, ‘It’s happening in Soledad,’” said Nuño, citing the City of Soledad’s slogan.
