SALINAS — A ribbon cutting took place Sept. 23 for the new Taylor Farms Pedestrian Bridge, which was completed just in time for last week’s California Rodeo Salinas.
Funded entirely by private donations, the bridge took 10 months to complete and connects the west grandstand to the south grandstand at the Salinas Sports Complex.
Rodeo patrons will no longer have to wait for the action on the track to stop before crossing over to their seating locations or the Pendleton Whisky Saloon.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of this massive project and hope the fans enjoy the enhanced experience during our events,” said Rodeo Director Jerry Bunker, who oversaw the project.
Bunker worked with Southern Bleachers out of Graham, Texas, to add this bridge to the existing facility.
The bridge construction included a lift that accommodates wheelchairs allowing access to the newly installed disabled seating area in the south grandstand.
In addition, the bridge features donor recognition signage on the walls inside the L-shaped path as well as signage on each outside panel.
The 2021 California Rodeo Salinas ran from Sept. 23 to 26 at the Salinas Sports Complex.
