MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Business Council (MCBC) has announced an event titled “Can Monterey Businesses Compete? Groundbreaking Report on Employment Trends and Workforce Dynamics” that will feature the release of a comprehensive new study from Beacon Economics.
This pivotal report, beginning with national and local trends, then focusing on employment trends within Monterey County, will be presented by Beacon’s Dr. Chris Thornberg and offers new insights for business leaders, policymakers and community stakeholders.
A breakfast and presentation will take place Friday, Sept. 20, at the Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza, in Monterey. Attendees will be among the first to explore the findings and implications of this informative study.
Paul Farmer, COO of MCBC, emphasized the importance of the report, stating, “This new study provides critical insights into the employment trends that will shape the future of Monterey County. We partnered with the County of Monterey and Beacon Economics to do a deep dive into never-before seen Employment Development Department granular data, and the results were surprising. Dr. Thornberg’s analysis will equip our business and community leaders with the knowledge needed to navigate and thrive in an ever-evolving economic landscape.”
The event will commence with a full breakfast at 9:30 a.m. at the Monterey Conference Center, providing an opportunity for networking and discussion among attendees.
Following breakfast, Thornberg, lead economist with Beacon Economics, will deliver a presentation from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thornberg will delve into the intricacies of the study, offering expert analysis on the current and future employment landscape in Monterey County. His presentation promises to be both engaging and informative, offering valuable perspectives that will aid in strategic planning and decision-making for the region.
