GONZALES — The last day to register to vote for the Aug. 30 City of Gonzales Special Tax Measure Election is Monday, Aug. 15.
Eligible citizens within the boundaries of the City of Gonzales can register to vote:
- Online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 15;
- In-person by 5 p.m. at the Monterey County Elections office, 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, Salinas; or
- By mail completing a paper voter registration application, postmarked by Aug. 15. The forms are available at libraries, post offices, DMV, and city/county offices.
To register to vote, you must be: (1) a U.S. Citizen; (2) a California resident; (3) at least 18 years of age on or before Election Day; (4) not be in federal or state prison for the conviction of a felony; and (5) not found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
Voters who miss the registration deadline can still register conditionally and cast a provisional ballot in person at the Monterey County Elections Department happening now until 8 p.m. on Aug. 30.
Conditional voter registration, in-person voting and ballot drop off will also be available at the City Council Chambers, 117 Fourth St., in Gonzales from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26 and Aug. 29, and from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Aug. 30.
The voting period for the all-mail ballot election opened Aug. 1.
