MONTEREY COUNTY — Disaster assistance for those impacted by winter storms is going mobile and in person to South Monterey County starting Friday.
While nearly 2,000 residents have registered for disaster assistance at the County of Monterey’s Local Assistance Center, efforts are underway to reach out directly to communities to make it easier for those in need of help to access federal disaster programs and services.
Six locations for residents to register for FEMA disaster assistance in South Monterey County have been confirmed, and more dates and locations are pending.
The FEMA Mobile Disaster Assistance Registration Intake Center (MRIC) trailer has already been on location in Carmel Valley and Spreckels last month, and will now be stationed at the following locations, with hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Chualar — Feb. 3, Monterey County Regional Fire Station, 24281 Washington St.
- Gonzales — Feb. 4, Gonzales Police Department, 109 Fourth St.
- Arroyo Seco — Feb. 5, South Monterey County Fire Protection District – Arroyo Seco Station, 46700 Arroyo Seco Road
- Greenfield — Feb. 6, Veteran’s Memorial Hall parking lot, 615 El Camino Real
- King City — Feb. 7-10, King City Library, 402 Broadway St.
- San Ardo — Feb. 11, San Ardo Library, 62350 College St.
The trailer is staffed by FEMA personnel to assist with registration and answer questions about disaster assistance programs, which include financial and direct services.
The County of Monterey also continues to offer disaster assistance at the Local Assistance Center, 1441 Schilling Place, in Salinas through Feb. 5.
