To the Editor:

On behalf of the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum staff and board, a great big “thank you” goes out to the entire South Monterey County community for their continued support in helping to make the 27th Annual Drury Tankersley Clam Chowder Dinner a huge success.

While we look forward to returning to in-person dining and our traditional all-you-can-eat offerings next year, even as a drive-thru event, we served close to 800 bowls of delicious California clam chowder to eager diners and those who look forward to this event all year.

We give a very special thanks to John and Arletta Tankersley, Bruno and Anne Vanoli, and their amazing kitchen crew for providing and preparing all of the delectable clam chowder. We also send out very special thanks to Mary Ann Bassetti Martinus and her crew for the generous donation and curation of all of those tasty spinach salads.

Also, thanks so much to Kathy Merritt for coordinating the large donation of cookies, and thank you to all who baked cookies, donated for this cause, and purchased tickets.

It is an honor for us to help steward such magnificent facilities at San Lorenzo Park. The preservation of our local history is an important task and 2022’s Clam Chowder Dinner is now part of that history.

We all look forward to seeing you next year, Jan. 27, 2023, for our 28th Annual Drury Tankersely Clam Chowder Dinner.
