SALINAS — Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) is offering a free presentation on how to avoid becoming the victim of scams and financial exploitation.

Attorney Steve M. Mudd will be presenting “SCAMS: Financial Exploitation of the Elderly” on Thursday, May 25. The presentation will provide examples of the most common types of scams perpetrated against the elderly.

Those attending the presentation will learn how to recognize the signs of abuse, they will learn how to protect loved ones and how to report suspected abuse to the proper authorities. Attendees will also learn about the role Adult Protective Services and the police take in these types of matters.

The presentation will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Downing Resource Center Conference Room A, located in the lower level of the SVMHS parking structure on Wilgart Way. Free parking is available in the garage.
