BRADLEY — Monterey County Resource Management Agency has announced the closure of the resort and recreational area at Lake Nacimiento effective April 2 over concerns related to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Due to governmental restrictions and in light of cases occurring near Lake Nacimiento Resort, the decision has been made to completely close the operations,” stated Nate Merkle, general manager of Lake Nacimiento Resort, on the resort’s website.

The public resort ramp will be closed until further notice, and a barricade has been placed at the entrance. Only essential personnel will continue to check the grounds daily.

“Please understand this is a decision that has not been made lightly and has been set in place to ensure the safety of our patrons and our staff,” Merkle said. “We will continue to update all of you as adjustments are made and hope, like all of you, that the spread of this virus and these trying times subside soon.”

Lake San Antonio remains open but with limited hours, the county agency said Friday.

Merkle said resort staff will be minimal during the closure, and anyone who has questions about future reservations can call 805-237-4924 and leave a message.

“Rest assured that we are doing all we can and that we will reopen as soon as possible,” he said.

Lake Nacimiento is located in northern San Luis Obispo County, about 14 miles south of Bradley.
