SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Valley high school seniors who plan to attend Hartnell College and have completed the Steps to Success are encouraged to sign up by April 17 to attend Panther Prep Days on April 27-29 and receive priority registration.

During Panther Prep Day events — on April 27 at Hartnell’s education center in Castroville, on April 28 at Hartnell’s education center in King City and Soledad, or on April 29 at the Main Campus in Salinas — students will meet individually with counselors to create their first-semester education plan, complete Fall 2023 registration, check Financial Aid status, and visit with Academic and Support Programs during a Resource Fair.

On April 27, the event at the Castroville Education Center, 10241 Tembladera St., will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On April 28, the event at King City Education Center, 117 N. Second St., will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m., and the event at the Soledad Education Center, 1505 Metz Road, will be from 12 to 3:30 p.m.

On April 29, the event at the Main Campus, 411 Central Ave., the morning session will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the afternoon session will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an overlapping lunch and resource fair.

Due to space limitations, all scheduled events require a ticket to attend rather than on a drop-in basis. Early registration is encouraged due to Panther Prep events historically selling out.

Panther Prep Day culminates outreach that began in October at school sites across the Hartnell Community College District. During a series of face-to-face workshops, Hartnell’s College Pathways Team led students through the Steps to Success, which included applying for admission, placement for English and math, online orientation, and setting up a Hartnell email account.

Panther Prep events during the week are in partnership with high schools and are provided as a field trip from the high school to the center. As many as 1,200 students and 200 parents are expected to participate during the three days.

Registration and additional information are available on the Hartnell website hartnell.edu/pantherprep/.
