GREENFIELD — Greenfield Union School District recently celebrated its entry into the Verizon Innovative Learning program, a prestigious national initiative designed to break down digital barriers and promote educational equity.

The Aug. 15 kickoff event, held at Vista Verde Middle School, marked a significant milestone as students received their own internet-connected devices, ensuring they have the tools needed for success in today’s digital world.

The partnership with Digital Promise and Verizon aims to equip students with the latest technology, while also supporting teachers with a dedicated technology coach and comprehensive professional development to enhance classroom learning. Teachers have reported that the initiative has already begun to allow for more personalized instruction, innovative teaching methods and increased student engagement.

Vista Verde Middle School is one of 34 schools nationwide to join the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program for the 2024-25 school year, bringing the program’s reach to 626 schools. As part of the initiative, the middle school received 769 devices with data plans, representing a market value investment of about $2.3 million.
