GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), arrested 36-year-old Kavan Hawkins on Dec. 27 for the sexual assault of a minor.

Greenfield detectives and FBI agents “worked tirelessly” to serve warrants at Hawkins’ home, workplace and on his electronic devices, according to the department. The investigation uncovered evidence of child molestation, which led to his arrest.

“We want to thank the FBI for their critical support and partnership in this case,” Greenfield Police said. “Together, we remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, especially our children.”

The department added, “We also encourage parents and guardians to have ongoing conversations with their children about personal safety. Remind them that it’s always okay to speak up if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe.”
