GREENFIELD — Before heading out on her Make a Wish shopping trip last Friday, Kelly Mata received patches, a helmet and other goodies from Greenfield police and fire departments, which also put on a short parade down her street in Greenfield.

Make a Wish Monterey Bay Chapter, along with her family, hosted a pizza and cake party for Mata as the parade went by.

The 8-year-old has battled Ewing’s sarcoma in her right femur since November, but she recently beat the cancer.

For her shopping trip on Feb. 19, Mata chose to go to Target to select something that caught her eye.
