GREENFIELD — Student artists from Greenfield High School’s art programs had 10 of their best pieces of artwork on display last Thursday evening inside the high school’s library.

Parents and community members were invited to enjoy the May 4 art show that included portraits, watercolors and various photos.

Nathan Krier, an art teacher that is in his 10th year at Greenfield High, had over a dozen students participate in the annual event.

“We had each student contribute 10 pieces of art to display,” Krier said. “There were many Art 3 students that participated, along with our Art 2 students.”

The Greenfield High Art Program includes the following teachers: Krier, Joseph Turek, Jennifer Day and Maribel Pacheco-Trujillo.

While Krier works in all levels of art teaching, Turek specializes in the photos and graphics, while Day and Pacheco-Trujillo work with first-year art students.

Destiny Perez, an 18-year-old senior and the daughter of Armando Perez and Teresa Rojas, was honored last month for her photo work as a recipient of a silver medalist from the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Program.

“The silver award I won was for photography, but I like to draw and paint also,” Perez said. “I plan on attending Hartnell after I graduate in June.”

Greenfield High junior Katherine Saldana enjoyed participating in this year’s art show and had a wall full of art on display.

“This is my third year as an art student and I have learned a lot,” Saldana said. “I like drawing and painting, mostly animals and people.”
