Cadets receive awards

GREENFIELD — The 246th Battalion of the California Cadet Corps at Greenfield High School recognized cadet achievement and advancement during its Fall Awards Night last month.

The ceremony honored cadets for their dedication, improvement and accomplishments throughout the fall semester. More than 300 parents, family members and friends attended the Dec. 12 event.

A total of 130 cadets were promoted, and more than 150 awards were presented. Honors included Physical Training (PT) for passing the physical fitness exam, Honor S-Shop, Honor Company — considered the battalion’s highest distinction — School Service, Individual Community Service, Specialized Training, Citizenship and Essayons.

Additional awards included the Commandant of Cadets Citation, Principal Citation, Brigade Advisor Citation and Distinguished Service awards.

“Awards Night is an opportunity for parents and friends to see firsthand the achievements of their cadets,” according to cadet 2nd Lt. Jesus Trujillo, a member of the 246th Battalion.

The battalion’s Spring Awards Night is scheduled for Friday, May 8, at Greenfield Memorial Hall.
