GONZALES — Gonzales High School student-athlete Giovanni Ochoa was recognized by the Gonzales City Council last week for his accomplishment of qualifying to the 2022 CIF State Cross Country Championships this past November.

Ochoa, a sophomore for the Spartans, was joined by Head Coach Margie Daniels and Assistant Coach Michael Ramirez in the council chambers during the Jan. 17 council meeting.

He was presented with a certificate of recognition from the council, including Mayor Jose Rios and Councilmembers Scott Funk, Maria Orozco, Liz Silva and Lorraine Worthy.
