SALINAS VALLEY — Fort Hunter Liggett recently conducted the June Quarterly Community Relations Executive Board (CREB) meeting at City Hall in King City.
The June 21 meeting began with opening remarks from HHC Commander, Lt. Col. Christopher Layton, greeting distinguished guests and audience members and sharing the meeting’s agenda.
Garrison Commander Col. Lisa Lamb led the ceremony and introduced the garrison’s new incoming commander, Col. Stephen S. Trotter.
Old business and new business was discussed during the CREB, establishing a basis for conversation among city officials, Congress members, leaders within local security and police departments, as well as the garrison’s subject matter experts within its Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR), Department of Public Works (DPW) and Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security Directorate (DPTMS).
A few of the members who took to the floor to address concerns and collaborations was King City Mayor Mike LeBarre, Soledad Mayor Anna Velasquez, Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez, the U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador Daniel Furtado, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren’s Congressional Aide Dustin Weber and California District 30 Assemblymember Dawn Addis’s Field Representative Mauricio Arias.
The sole purpose of the Community Relations Executive Board is to “foster and sustain good relations” with elected officials from state, county and neighboring cities, as well as collaborate with local officials and emergency service leaders, according to Fort Hunter Liggett.
“The CREB provides the perfect platform for strategic information exchange and beneficial collaborations amongst all parties in attendance,” said FHL officials.
