SALINAS VALLEY — South Monterey County high school football teams will start the seven-on-seven football summer series this Wednesday at 5 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in King City.

Gonzales, Greenfield, Soledad and King City high schools have already been busy with seven-on-seven football and lineman competitions at Templeton, Palma, North Salinas and Alisal.

“We’re trying to keep the kids busy and competing as much as possible,” said Gonzales Spartans head coach Eddie Ramirez. “We also started our community involvement helping out at the Food Pantry this past Friday and having our kids attend a flag ceremony at Gonzales Legion Post 81 on Flag Day.”
