SALINAS VALLEY ā With the high school football season over for Salinas Valley, the only thing left was to hand out awards to those individuals that had a great year.
Greenfield Bruins
The Greenfield Bruins had their best football season in school history. With having a great season, many players were honored with postseason awards.
Offensive Player of the Year went to Misael Silva, who is one of the top players in the PCAL, and Defensive Player of the Year went to Nathan Cox, who had another dominant year.
In the PCAL Santa Lucia Division, all-league first team honors went to the Bruinsā Naythen Hernandez, Gilbert Snyder, Bryan Ortega, Silva and Angel Vega on the offense, and Ortega, Nisael Gonzalez, Cox and Hernandez on defense.
Earning all-league second team honors for offense were AJ Martinez, Hector Garcia, Gabriel Espinoza and Adrian Martinez, while on defense were Genaro Anaya and Garcia.
Soledad Aztecs
The Soledad Aztecs had several football players make the all-league second team for PCALās Mission South Division.
Those players were Danny Morales, Julio Camacho Jr., Victor Ruano, Jesse Argueta, Anthony Trevino and Ivan Salcido.
Gonzales Spartans
This past season the Gonzales Spartans were just one game away from being co-champs. Nonetheless, they were able to get a lot of players with postseason awards.
The main award went to the Spartansā Adrian Perez, who was named Player of the Year for the Santa Lucia Division.
In the PCAL Santa Lucia Division, Gonzales football players Juan Pablo Acosta-Ayala, Adrian Perez, Ely Cisneros and Nate Alvarez earned all-league first team honors on offense, while Perez, Abel Villegas and Elijah Guerrero made the all-league first team defense.
Earning all-league second team honors for offense were Ray Blanco, Manuel Perea, Eduardo Valdez and Tony Garcia, while on defense were Blanco, Garcia and Ely Cisneros.
