SALINAS — California Rodeo Salinas is hosting the second annual Fall Round Up Festival Oct. 12-15 at the Salinas Sports Complex.
The event is presented by Brent Eastman Insurance Services Inc., and will feature a carnival, food trucks, live music, a pumpkin patch, children’s activities and more.
There will be a costume contest held daily, at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday nights and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, on the main entertainment stage. Prizes will be given for first through third places with two age categories: newborn to 6 years old, and 7 to 12 years old.

Food vendors will be located on the midway and include Sabor Latin Fusion, Ivan’s Baked Potato, Showoff Barbecue, Capitol Concessions, Lupita’s Carnitas, Kuki’s LLC, Barbacoas Hueramo, Café Con Leche, Faby’s Creations, Fruit Rider and Oli’s Cheesesteaks. There will also be adult beverages from Alvarado Brewery and Crown Royal for sale.
California Rodeo Salinas will sell official Rodeo souvenirs, but there will be no other merchandise vendors this year.
The main attraction will be the carnival featuring rides for teens and older children and “kiddie” rides for younger children. This year’s rides will include Expo Wheel, EKG, Rip Cord, Starship, Scooters, Magic Dragon, Slide, Crystal Lil’s, New York, Swinger, MGR, Ski Doo, Sky Fighter, Wrecking Ball, Speed Boats, Loop-O-Plane and Pirates Cove.
The entertainment available in the Kids’ Activity Area is presented by Elli’s and Black Bear Diner and is included with admission; the area will have face painting, inflatables and more.
Music is also included with admission; the music lineup includes The Edge Band on Oct. 12, The Money Band on Oct. 13, The Kindred Soul Band on Oct. 14 and Samz School of Rock on Oct. 15. The entertainment stage is presented by Sturdy Oil.
Pumpkins will be available for purchase at the pumpkin patch, presented by Carlon’s Fire and Safety, at the south end of the midway; a pumpkin shuttle, sponsored by MYCars.com, will take people with purchased pumpkins to the parking lot. There will be a complimentary painting station in the children’s activity area with paints to decorate recently purchased pumpkins.

Admission tickets are available online at carodeo.com/events/2023/fall-round-up. The Ticket Office will open at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, for walk-up sales.
