SOLEDAD — Correctional Training Facility in Soledad recently presented a check for $16,381.50 to two local youth organizations: the South County Warriors and the Gonzales Youth Football and Cheer.

These programs serve more than 150 boys and girls and are dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and discipline.

According to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on June 24, “The funds were raised through a food sale organized by incarcerated participants. While at the check presentation they expressed that supporting youth programs gives them a sense of purpose and allows them to contribute to the community in a meaningful way, even while incarcerated.”
