SALINAS VALLEY — Cross country teams from all four South Monterey County high schools gathered at San Lorenzo Park in King City last Thursday for the South County Cross Country Jamboree.
King City High School swept the varsity boys, varsity girls, JV boys and JV girls divisions at the Aug. 24 race of 5,000 meters, or about 3.11 miles.
In the varsity boys division, the Mustang boys received a fight from Greenfield but won by a 28-35 score. Soledad placed third (67) and Gonzales finished fourth (106).
Fabian Serrano of Greenfield won the race with a time of 18:30.
Alexa Flores led the King City Lady Mustangs to a 15-54 win over Greenfield, and Soledad placed third (58) in the varsity girls division.
Flores won the race in a time of 21:38.
The King City JV boys won their division 15-60 and 15-65 over Soledad and Greenfield, respectively, with Alfonso Garcia placing first in a time of 19:29.
Natalie Rodriguez led the King City JV girls with a time of 26:21.
The South County teams will not compete again until the Jackie Henderson Memorial XC Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9, at North Monterey County High School in Castroville.
