SOLEDAD — City of Soledad is hosting a community workshop next Tuesday to invite residents to help guide the vision for Toledo Basin Park — the City’s next outdoor space.

The future park site is located at the intersection of Gabilan Drive and Toledo Street. Currently an undeveloped, 3.5-acre former water retention basin, the property is being reimagined as a vibrant community park that will offer recreational opportunities for Soledad residents of all ages.

This new park will also complement the adjacent property, which is planned for an affordable housing complex, creating a “well-rounded, inclusive neighborhood,” according to the City.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive. Two sessions will be held to ensure everyone has a chance to participate: a Youth Forum from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and the General Public Session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to view the initial concept design, ask questions and offer input to help shape and refine the park’s future. Light food will be provided, and all ages are welcome to attend.

Community feedback gathered at this meeting will play a key role in guiding the next phases of design and will also help demonstrate strong public support as the City pursues funding for construction and implementation.

“This is a valuable opportunity for residents to help create a new park that reflects the needs and priorities of Soledad’s families,” said Jessica Potts, director of Soledad Parks and Recreation. “We want this space to be a true reflection of our community’s voice.”

The Toledo Basin Park project marks a major step in expanding recreational opportunities and green spaces in Soledad. Community participation in the concept design phase will ensure the final plan aligns with local interests and the long-term goals outlined in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
