SALINAS VALLEY — Teams from the South County Titans and the Gonzales Dingers baseball programs began play last Saturday at Manzanita County Park.

Games are played at Manzanita on Saturdays and Sundays, and there are more than 600 athletes in the Central Coast Youth Baseball League.

Weekly schedules are posted on the Wednesday prior to the weekend. Fields at Manzanita County Park are set up to the field dimensions of the age groups.

On Aug. 3, the Titans 12 and under team got on the win column in their opener against the Prunedale Sluggers with a 13-3 win.

Kayleb King pitched three innings for the 12 and under team and gave up one earned run with four strikeouts.

Roger Ramirez led the team, bating 2×3, while Mathias Espinoza, Alijah Gaona and Ivan Jaregui were 1×3.

“It was a good win for our team,” said Titans 12 and under head coach George Espinoza. “I’d like to thank La Plaza Bakery from Greenfield and the American Revolution Car Club from Soledad, and Yanks RV for being our sponsors.”

The Titans 13 and under team lost 14-5 to the Knights of Salinas and 10-0 to the Crew. The Titans 11 and under team beat the Monterey Bay Pirates by an 11-0 score.

The Dingers 12 and under team lost 8-2 to the Marina Lightning, and the Titans 9 and under team was edged 9-8 by the Hollister Elite.
