SOLEDAD — Braga Fresh, the Soledad-based grower-shipper known for its fresh vegetables and packaged salads, plans to close its Salinas processing plant, resulting in the loss of about 260 jobs, according to a state WARN Act filing.

The closure was disclosed in documents submitted Nov. 14 to the California Employment Development Department, which listed the effective date as Jan. 14, 2026, and classified the move as a permanent shutdown. The company was acquired in August by OrganicGirl, a development that industry observers say likely led to a consolidation of operations.

Braga Fresh, founded in 1928, continues to operate from its home ranch in Soledad. The company also runs another processing plant in nearby Gonzales.

The Tribune has reached out to Braga Fresh for comment.
