SOLEDAD — Members of the Soledad High School track and field team and their coaches and parents gathered at the school multi-purpose room last Tuesday for an awards night. Athletes were recognized for their commitment to the program and success in the track and field events.

The girls frosh-soph girls team was applauded for becoming the first Mission Trail Athletic League frosh-soph championship team. Central Coast Section certificates were given to the following athletes for qualifying to the CCS semifinals: Emmanuel Ortega, Belen Florez, Miguel Gonzalez, Ulises Camarena, Jesus Rodriguez, and Daniel Contawe.

Special team awards were presented to: Jesus Rodriguez (Iron Man); Danyelle Landeros (MVP); Anselmo De Jesus (Most Improved); Gryrallene Degarcia (Iron Maiden); Salvador Meza (Aztec Award); Ulises Camarena (MVP); Belen Florez (Aztec Award); and Lauryn Orozco (Most Improved).
