SOLEDAD — Soledad Chamber of Commerce recognized five local nonprofit organizations and distributed donations during its Giving Back Banquet on Oct. 1, thanking the groups for their contributions to the community and volunteer work at the Chamber’s fireworks booth.
The event opened with two cultural dances by Baile Folkorico de Costa de California, followed by remarks from Chamber President Sandy Fuerte. Fireworks Committee members Frank Corralejo, Fred Ledesma and Max Schell presented donation checks to the organizations.
The committee thanked the nonprofits for their community service and support of the fireworks booth.
“It’s not about how hard we worked. It’s about what we accomplished together and who we lifted up, which is why we want to continue to help not only our merchants but also our community,” stated the committee in a news release.
The five organizations recognized were Baile Folkorico de Costa de California, Founding Forward, Soledad Little League, Soledad Warriors Football and Cheer, and Victory Outreach.
“The Soledad Chamber is about building community. Helping local nonprofit organizations supports the community and in the end helps small businesses,” the Fireworks Committee stated.
Proceeds from the Chamber’s fireworks booth sales funded the donations, which were made possible by community members who purchased fireworks.
Executive Director Maria Corralejo delivered closing remarks, describing the organizations as “the heartbeat of Soledad.”
