GREENFIELD — Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with this month’s violent group assault on Bianco Way that left an 18-year-old Chualar resident with serious head injuries, Greenfield police said.
On Aug. 26, Jeremiah Joel Rodriguez, 18, of Salinas, was booked into the Monterey County Jail, while a 16-year-old Salinas juvenile was taken to Monterey County Juvenile Hall. Both were identified as suspects following an investigation by Greenfield detectives with assistance from the Monterey County Probation Department, Salinas Police Department and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
Greenfield police said video evidence showed the victim being assaulted by multiple people and struck in the head multiple times with a firearm. The firearm used in the assault has not been recovered and remains outstanding.
The latest arrests follow the Aug. 21 arrest of Arturo Robles Gonzalez, 18, of Salinas, who police identified as a suspect on the night of the assault.
Last week, detectives served residential search warrants in the 700 block of Garner Way and the 18000 block of Lenny Street in Salinas and recovered evidence related to the investigation.
Charges in the investigation include attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, robbery, conspiracy and firearm and gang enhancements. Police said additional charges have also been requested against Gonzalez.
Investigators credited community members who submitted videos through the Greenfield Police Department’s Axon Community Portal, adding that the videos provided multiple views of the attack and were instrumental in identifying suspects.
The investigation remains active, with detectives continuing to review video, examine evidence and interview witnesses. Greenfield police said they anticipate additional arrests.
“We thank the community members who came forward and our law enforcement partners who assisted with this investigation,” stated police in a news release Aug. 27.
