GONZALES — A Gonzales teen will have his artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol after winning the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for California’s 18th Congressional District.
Davis Pisoni, a senior at Palma School in Salinas and the son of Mark and Quinn Pisoni of Gonzales, earned the district’s top honor in the annual competition sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives. His winning piece depicts agricultural fields in the Salinas Valley at sunset.
As the district winner, Pisoni’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside winning entries from congressional districts across the country. The honor also included a trip to Washington, D.C., for Pisoni and his family to attend an official recognition ceremony.
California’s 18th Congressional District is represented by Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who shared photos of Pisoni and his family during their visit to Washington in a July 1 social media post.
“Congratulations to our 2026 Congressional Art Competition winner from #CA18, Davis Pisoni! He has an incredible talent and a wonderful family. Best of luck to him in all his creative endeavors,” wrote Lofgren.
Held each spring, the Congressional Art Competition is open to high school students and is designed to recognize and encourage young artistic talent. Winning artwork from participating districts is exhibited in the U.S. Capitol and featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ Congressional Art Competition webpage.
Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez, whose District 3 includes Gonzales, also recognized Pisoni’s achievement in an online post after the family’s visit to Washington.
