Bike helmet giveaway planned for Bike Month
GREENFIELD — Greenfield Fire Department will host a free bicycle helmet distribution event on Wednesday, May 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the corner of Oak Avenue and Fourth Street in Greenfield.
The “Bike Month” event is part of a community safety initiative aimed at encouraging safe bicycling practices for children and families. Free helmets will be distributed while supplies last.
The program is supported by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
KCHS stages ‘Mamma Mia!’ this weekend
KING CITY — “Mamma Mia!” is coming to the Robert Stanton Theater stage May 21-24 as King City High School presents the ultimate feel-good musical.
Featuring music and lyrics by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, with a book by Catherine Johnson, the production promises an “ABBA-solutely unforgettable” experience for audiences of all ages.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday, May 21; Friday, May 22; and Saturday, May 23, at 7 p.m., with a Sunday, May 24, matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door.
Free Wi-Fi available at Monterey County facilities
MONTEREY COUNTY — Free Wi-Fi is available at many Monterey County facilities, including libraries and government centers, offering residents a place to connect for schoolwork, job applications and other online needs.
County officials said the service is intended to assist those without reliable or affordable high-speed internet. In many locations, the Wi-Fi signal also extends into nearby parking areas.
Residents can use an online map to find the nearest county building with Wi-Fi at countyofmonterey.gov.
