SOLEDAD — A Soledad man was arrested Tuesday after authorities say he drove a stolen vehicle to a scheduled court appearance for a pending auto theft case.

Members of the Multi-Agency Detail Combating Auto Theft (MADCAT) task force took Ricardo Otero, 41, into custody March 24 at about 11 a.m. after observing him arrive at the Salinas Courthouse, 240 Church St., in a vehicle reported stolen out of San Jose.

According to authorities, deputies contacted Otero outside the courtroom where he was scheduled to appear in connection with an existing auto theft case. He was arrested without incident.

Otero was transported to the Monterey County Jail and booked on suspicion of unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle, committing a felony while released on bail or on his own recognizance, and driving with a suspended license.
