Happy February! In February, we have Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and so many things to celebrate.

1. February is one of our favorite months because it is also Library Lover’s Month! Do you love your library? There are many ways to show your library love. You can volunteer, join a Friends group or donate funds to support us. Other fun ways to show your library love include participating in a program, checking out some books, bringing a friend to your branch or following us on social media.

2. During February we celebrate Black History Month, and we highlight and celebrate how Black Americans have enriched American culture and our lives. We will highlight authors on our social media pages each Tuesday, and have displays of books celebrating Black History in our branches.
3. The online resources we are highlighting this month include Black Freedom Struggle, SIRS Culturgrams and Biography Reference Center. Looking at these resources you can learn some history, explore world cultures or find a biography of a famous person that you always wanted to know more about. Access these resources for free with your library card.

4. If you want a unique date for Valentine’s Day, try our Blind Date with a Book! For this fun program, staff wrap up books so you can’t see the title and write a brief description. You take the book home and unwrap it to see if it’s a match. It’s fun way to discover a new book. Most of our branches participate. Look out for the creative “Blind Date” displays at all branches.

5. In recognition of President’s Day, all branches will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Administrative Office and Seaside Branch will also be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, along with other County Departments.

Come show us some library love during the month of February. We would love to see you!
