JUDICIAL SEATS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Jan. 26 marked the opening of the Declaration of Intention filing period for judicial seats in the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election. All interested candidates must file their Declaration of Intention no later than 5pm on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Judicial candidates must pay their non-refundable filing fee and/or submit Signature In-Lieu Petitions at the time they file their Declaration of Intention. Candidates are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 831-796-1499 or toll-free at 866-887-9274, or by email at Ca***************@**************ey.gov. The Elections Office is located at 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, in Salinas, and is open 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. TRANSPORTATION PLAN

MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) has released its Draft 2026 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for public review. The 24-year plan outlines goals, policies, funding estimates and priority projects to address Monterey County’s long-term transportation needs and is the first step toward securing federal and state funding for local projects. Residents can submit written comments by Jan. 31 to Ariadne Sambrano, Transportation Planner, at 55B Plaza Circle, Salinas, CA 93901. TAMC will also hold a public hearing on Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. during its Board of Directors meeting at the Monterey County Government Center, 1441 Schilling Place, in Salinas. NONPROFIT ANNIVERSARY

SALINAS — Partnership for Children, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to medical care for children with serious illnesses and supporting their families, will celebrate its 10-year anniversary and the opening of its new Salinas office with a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 4-7pm. The event will be hosted in partnership with the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s new location, 427 Pajaro St., Suite 5, in Salinas. The celebration marks an important milestone for Partnership for Children, which has grown from serving a small number of families to becoming a trusted regional resource providing essential services to hundreds each year across Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. The new office expands the organization’s capacity to deliver transportation support, financial relief, emotional assistance and practical resources to families navigating the challenges of pediatric illness. In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the anniversary celebration will feature guided tours, a special screening of the Partnership for Children 10-Year Legacy Video and a community reception with refreshments and opportunities to connect.
