GREENFIELD — A structure fire early Friday morning was contained to a garage thanks to a rapid, multi-agency response, according to the Greenfield Police Department.
At about midnight on Jan. 23, Greenfield police and fire personnel responded to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of San Antonio Drive. Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading beyond the garage.
“Thanks to the quick response of the Greenfield Fire Department, with assistance from Cal Fire–Soledad, CTF, South Monterey County (Pine Canyon), Gonzales and the King City Fire Departments, the fire was contained to the garage,” stated Greenfield police.
No injuries were reported. The displaced family was connected with assistance resources through the American Red Cross, police said.
Preliminary evidence indicates the fire may have originated near a clothes dryer, though the cause remains under investigation.
“This incident is a reminder of the importance of regularly cleaning dryer vents and lint traps,” police said. “Lint buildup is a common fire hazard and can quickly lead to a structure fire.”
Police also expressed appreciation for the coordinated response by local and neighboring fire agencies, noting that their efforts prevented a total loss of the home.
