GREENFIELD — Greenfield police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning on the 400 block of 10th Street.
Officers responded to the scene just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 28 after receiving a report of a stabbing involving two adults. One individual was transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The second individual involved in the incident is currently in police custody.
According to the Monterey County In Custody Log, 36-year-old Flavio Hernandez Garcia was arrested in connection with the incident on charges of attempted murder.
Detectives and members of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit responded and have taken over the investigation. Authorities say the case remains “active and fluid” as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police added that there is no threat to public safety at this time.
