CITY HALL CLOSED
KING CITY — In observance of the holidays, City Hall in King City will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Thursday, Jan. 1. All public safety emergency response operations will maintain normal staffing and hours during this time. “As always, contact 9-1-1 if you experience an emergency,” stated officials. “The City wishes everyone in the community a happy and safe holiday.” Contact City Hall at 831-385-3281 with any questions.
WINTER CLOSURE
MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey will have a Winter Closure for many operations Dec. 26 and 29-31. During this time, County offices will be closed or have limited hours of operation. This closure or reduced schedule is in addition to designated holidays of Dec. 24 and 25 (Christmas Eve observed and Christmas Day) as well as Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day). The recess will not close any critical or public safety “24/7” operations. A schedule for all county offices during this time period is available in English and Spanish on the County website countyofmonterey.gov.
WATER LEADERSHIP
SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency, in partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund and Rural Community Assistance Corporation, is now accepting applications for the free Water Leadership Institute. This bilingual training program, designed for underserved and underrepresented community members, aims to enhance leadership skills and understanding of local water resources. The series of four workshops will take place in January, February and March, offering opportunities for community leaders, water managers and domestic well owners to collaborate and develop equitable water solutions. SALINAS — U.S. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren has announced that Edwin Sevilla will join her office as the incoming District Director for California’s 18th Congressional District. “I am very excited to welcome Edwin Sevilla to our district office,” said Rep. Lofgren. “With his impressive career experience and upbringing in Santa Clara County, I am confident that Edwin is going to be a great addition to the team. Our district office provides so many constituent services for the people of CA-18, and Edwin will play a key part in continuing and improving those services.” Sevilla joins Team Lofgren after serving as Northern California Regional Director for Sen. Adam Schiff. Before that, he had the privilege to serve as Director of Constituent Services for U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Laphonza Butler and as a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Linda Sánchez in her Washington, D.C., office. He grew up in Milpitas, Calif., and is a graduate of San Jose State University.
