
GONZALES — Gonzales High School’s wrestling team hosted a banquet and awards night Saturday at the school multipurpose room.
Spartan wrestlers, along with their families and coaches, celebrated the 2024-25 season. More than 50 guests attended the event that was catered by Luigi’s Italian Restaurant.
Coaches presented athletic certificates to each wrestler, along with special team awards and wrestling sweatshirts.
Special team awards were given to: Christian Zazueta (Most Inspirational); Cherish Yebra (Team Captain/CCS Qualifier); Nelson Cisneros (Most Improved); Clarissa Rico (Most Valuable Wrestler/Masters and CCS); Gabriel Prieto (Spartan Award/CCS Qualifier) Mailyn Amador (Most Improved); and Josiah Rosales (Most Valuable Wrestler, All-League, Masters and CCS).
Coaching the Gonzales wrestling team this year were: Sandra Rodriguez (head girls coach); Larry Rodriguez (head boys coach); Jaime Carrillo (assistant coach); and Albert Barbosa (assistant coach).
