SOLEDAD — Soledad Community Health Care District (SCHCD) has announced the swearing-in of Maria Schell, NP, as its newest board director.
Elected by the community in November 2024, Schell officially took her oath of office on Jan. 28. The newly formed board began its tenure at the first board meeting of the year on Jan. 30.
Schell joins a distinguished board that also includes returning directors Graig Stephens and Rosemary Guidotti, who were sworn in during December 2024. Both incumbents have provided decades of dedicated service to the District, with Stephens serving for over 15 years and Guidotti for more than 20 years.
“Their continued leadership will play a vital role in guiding the District’s ongoing initiatives to deliver quality healthcare to South Monterey County residents,” according to SCHCD in a news release.
The SCHCD board is further strengthened by Anne Trebino, who has served for over 10 years, and Max Schell, who began his tenure in 2022. Both will be up for re-election in 2026, ensuring a continuity of leadership and dedication to the community.

Maria Schell brings a wealth of healthcare expertise as a nurse practitioner, which will complement the board’s diverse skill set. Her clinical experience and commitment to addressing community healthcare needs align with the District’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality services.
Ida Lopez Chan, CEO of SCHCD, expressed her gratitude and optimism for the board’s composition.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maria as she begins her service to the District. Her insights and dedication to healthcare will be a valuable addition,” said Lopez Chan. “We also deeply appreciate the ongoing contributions of Graig Stephens, Rosemary Guidotti, Anne Trebino and Max Schell. Together, this board represents a strong foundation for advancing our mission and delivering quality care to our community.”
SCHCD extends its “appreciation to the community for its support and engagement and looks forward to achieving new milestones under the leadership of this committed board,” stated the District.
