SALINAS VALLEY — Soledad High’s boys’ basketball team played three games in Hawaii at the Moanlua Tourney.

In their first game on Dec. 4, the Aztecs beat Nanakuli High 46-44. On Dec. 5, Soledad was beaten 73-32 by Mid Pacific Institute. The mainland boys then closed out the trip to Hawaii with a 55-22 loss to Kalaleo High.

Pablo Morales had 22 points and Anikan Tavarez added 13 in the game with Nanakuli. Marcos Alvarez led Soledad in scoring in the last two games in Hawaii.

On Dec. 7, Soledad fell to 2-4 overall with a 55-22 loss to Foothill of Palo Cedro. Morales had 20 points in the loss to Foothill.

In a Dec. 10 game, King City High’s girls’ basketball team lost 67-35 to visiting Coalinga. Alizah Carrillo scored 11 points for the Lady Mustangs. King City plays at home against Paso Robles on Tuesday night, and then competes at Harbor on Friday.

Next, on Dec. 27 and 28, the King City girls will host the 41st Annual Ken Kline Holiday Classic in the Mustang Gym.
