GREENFIELD — Greenfield High Bruins volleyball team is 2-0 to start Cypress Divisional play, with wins last week against the host Palma Chieftains in Salinas and at home against the Marina Mariners.

Aleena Salas led Greenfield with 19 kills and 12 digs and seven service aces, while Kim Carpo had eight kills, four digs and four blocks. Jocelyn finished the contest with 27 assists and 12 digs in the 3-2 victory over Palma.

On Sept. 19, Salas had another dominating performance with 25 kills, 16 digs, five aces and 14 service points. Layla Rodriguez contributed with eight kills and five blocks, and Madeleine Gullien had 19 digs and served five points against the Mariners.

“The kids have really responded well in tough situations,” said Greenfield head coach Adrian Trujillo. “Against Palma, they really had to did deep to come out with a win. As the girls continue to build chemistry and own their team roles, they are getting better after every game.”

In divisional games this week, Greenfield has a match Wednesday night against the Pacific Collegiate Pumas in Santa Cruz. On Friday, the Lady Bruins host the Notre Dame Spirits.

Soledad High had a busy week with games against Morro Bay at home on Sept. 17, hosted Gonzales High on Sept. 18, and then completed the week with a Mission Divisional game against Monterey High last Friday night.

At home with Morro Bay, the Aztecs lost by a 3-2 score. Setter Sarahi Fernandez, outside hitter Layla Rodriguez and outside hitter Valeria Segura provided offense, while libero Gisselle Zepeda, defensive specialist Aliya Velarde and Camila Lopez played well on defense.

Soledad defeated Gonzales 3-2 with Fernandez, Segura and Delylah Ocampo leading the Aztec offense. Zepeda and Lilliana Ramirez stood out on defense.

The Toreadores came to Soledad on Friday and won by a 3-0 score. Offensive leaders were Ocampo, Rodriguez and Segura, and defensively, standouts were Natalie Montez and Lilliana Ramirez.

On Tuesday night, the Aztecs hosted Seaside and will host the Everett Alvarez Eagles on Thursday.
