GREENFIELD — The community can join Greenfield Police Department for “Coffee with a Cop” on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Greenfield Starbucks, 367 Walnut Ave. This event provides a unique opportunity for residents to meet local officers, ask questions or simply say hello. In addition to engaging with law enforcement, attendees can benefit from a free helmet distribution, courtesy of the Monterey County Health Department and the California Office of Traffic Safety, aimed at keeping children safe while biking.
MCARLM WALK-A-THON
KING CITY — Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum (MCARLM) invites the community to participate in a Walk-a-thon on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at San Lorenzo Park in King City. The event aims to raise funds for various initiatives, including restoration, education and equipment improvements to help preserve and promote local history. Participants can enjoy a scenic walk around the park while joining board members, supporters and friends in this effort. The funds raised will support upgrades for exhibits, landscape beautification and collections management. Registration and donation information can be found at mcarlm.org. COMMUNITY CELEBRATION
SAN ARDO — A community celebration to learn about the new high-speed internet now available for San Ardo and San Lucas will take place Monday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. outside of the San Ardo Library, 2350 College St. The community can stop by and learn about the new service from Spectrum, as well as have dinner and fun with their family. Also, San Ardo and San Lucas residents can enter a raffle for a chance to win a tablet, donated by Lenovo.
BONUS BRIEF: WRITE-IN CANDIDATES
MONTEREY COUNTY — The nomination period to qualify as a write-in candidate for offices going to election in November runs Sept. 9 through Tuesday, Oct. 22. To qualify, candidates must meet the requirements of office and file write-in candidate nomination forms. Nomination forms must be filed at the Monterey County Elections Office located at 1441 Schilling Place – North Building in Salinas. There are no filing fees or candidate statements, and the write-in candidate’s name will not appear on the ballot.
